N° 44 - Richard Baudet - France -

N° 37 - Uli Grohmann - Germany -

Thank you very much Uli for this nice collage about
Jules-Sébastien-César Dumont d'Urville :
"He is said to have won the Venus de Milo for France in 1919/1920 and to have identified the site of La Perouse's shipwreck in Vanikoro (part of the archipelago of the Solomon Islands) in 1828."

"It's narrated that - while trying to load the statue aboard the ship - she lost her, since them missing arms, during a quarrel between two ship completements about the question who might be the real owner of the statue"

N° 34 - From Pascal Coupechoux - France -

N° 31 - From Fabienne Ruaut-Lichet - France -

N° 28 - Test Tower - USA -

I'm always very happy to receive a mail art and hear from my friend Test.
He sent me Sir Francis Drake and the Golden Hind.
Sir Francis Drake (1540 - 1596), vice admiral, was an english  sea captain, privateer and he carried out the second circumnavigation of the globe with the galleon Golden Hind.
Many thanks Test.

N° 27 - Uli Grohmann - Germany -

Thank you very much Uli for this new mail art.
Uki written that there is a german navigator who is worth to be mentioned : Felix Graf von Luckner  (1881 - 1966). Probably the last  privateer in the strict term of the sense but he didn't receive financial compensation in exchange of his catch. He earned the epithet "the Sea-Devil".

N° 26 - Patrizia Tic Tac - Germany -

Very fun mail art from Patricia, Christopher Columbus biked and pulls behind him "la Pinta" !!!
A large envelope with beautiful stamps and wonderful rubber-stamped set.
Many Thanks Patrizia !

N° 25 - Pam Ash - USA -

Thank you very much Pam for this wonderful painting adventures of Magellan.

Magellan was a Portuguese skilled sailor and naval officer who discovered the westward route to the "Spice Islands". Conmmanding a fleet of five vessels, he headed south through the Atlantic Ocean to Patagonia, passing through the Strait of Magellan into a body of water he named the "peaceful sea" (the modern Pacific Ocean). Despite a series of storms and mutinies, the expedition reached the Spice Islands in 1521 and returned home via the Indian Ocean to complete the first circuit of the globe. Magellan didn't complete the entire voyage, as he was killed during the Battle of Mactan in the Philippines in 1521.

N° 24 - Isabelle Serandon - France -

N° 21 - Lorraine Kwan - Canada -

A wonderful mail art from Lorraine, in a polybag and inside 2 old maps (one is incorrect !! from Lorraine) and a reproduction of a painting (HMS erebus in the ice - 1846)
The maps represent the search for the Northwest Passage, first by Sir Martin Frobisher, who was an english seaman and pirate (1539 - 1594) and then by Sir John Franklin who was a British Royal Navy officer and explorer (1786 - 1847).
The HMS Erebus was part of Captain Sir John Franklin's lost expedition, which claimed the lives of 129 men. It was later determined that the ships became icebound while exploring the Northwest Passage. Throughout the last 150 years, numerous bodies were recovered from the shores of King William island. The condition of the remains has sparked rumors and speculation about how the men died. Although a large portion of the crew was likely by disease and exposure, researchers believe the survivors eventually resorted to cannibalism.
Thank you very much Lorraine, so nice to hear from you. Be seeing you in a mail soon.
