N° 28 - Test Tower - USA -
I'm always very happy to receive a mail art and hear from my friend Test.
He sent me Sir Francis Drake and the Golden Hind.
Sir Francis Drake (1540 - 1596), vice admiral, was an english sea captain, privateer and he carried out the second circumnavigation of the globe with the galleon Golden Hind.
Many thanks Test.
N° 27 - Uli Grohmann - Germany -
Thank you very much Uli for this new mail art.
Uki written that there is a german navigator who is worth to be mentioned : Felix Graf von Luckner (1881 - 1966). Probably the last privateer in the strict term of the sense but he didn't receive financial compensation in exchange of his catch. He earned the epithet "the Sea-Devil".
N° 26 - Patrizia Tic Tac - Germany -
Very fun mail art from Patricia, Christopher Columbus biked and pulls behind him "la Pinta" !!!
A large envelope with beautiful stamps and wonderful rubber-stamped set.
Many Thanks Patrizia !
N° 25 - Pam Ash - USA -
Thank you very much Pam for this wonderful painting adventures of Magellan.
Magellan was a Portuguese skilled sailor and naval officer who discovered the westward route to the "Spice Islands". Conmmanding a fleet of five vessels, he headed south through the Atlantic Ocean to Patagonia, passing through the Strait of Magellan into a body of water he named the "peaceful sea" (the modern Pacific Ocean). Despite a series of storms and mutinies, the expedition reached the Spice Islands in 1521 and returned home via the Indian Ocean to complete the first circuit of the globe. Magellan didn't complete the entire voyage, as he was killed during the Battle of Mactan in the Philippines in 1521.
N° 24 - Isabelle Serandon - France -
