N° 40 - Angela Behrendt - Germany -


Emanuel Wynne was a french pirate of the 18th century and he was the first pirate to fly the Jolly Roger. His design incorporated an hourglass beneath the bones to represent that time was running out.

N° 27 - Uli Grohmann - Germany -



Thank you very much Uli for this new mail art.
Uki written that there is a german navigator who is worth to be mentioned : Felix Graf von Luckner  (1881 - 1966). Probably the last  privateer in the strict term of the sense but he didn't receive financial compensation in exchange of his catch. He earned the epithet "the Sea-Devil".

N° 23 - Roland Halbritter - Germany -



Thank you very much Roland for this WONDERFUL portrait of Commandant Cousteau. This very nice painting is part of born-project that Roland started in august 2013 : 365 painting portraits (of famous people) created day by day. Those portraits will be shown in Kunst Karrée exhibition on 16th of may 2015.  You can see all portraits in this blog 
I am very proud to have one of this paintings. 

Jacques-Yves Cousteau in a french naval officer, explorer, conservationist, filmmaker, innovator, scientist, photographer, author and researcher who studied the sea and all forms of life in water. He was also member of The Académie Française. Is my Hero !!!!

N° 1 - Wolfgang Kraus - Germany - "Erik the Red"

Thank you very much Wolfgang. Wolfgang send me  a nice mail art which represents "Erik the red" (Erik le Rouge). Erik Thorvaldsson known as "Erik the Red"(refers to his hair color) is a norwegian explorer who has founded the first Norse settlement in Greenland. The settlement venture involved 25 ships.
